cosmetic dentistry procedures

Your smile is important and it is amazing how much of an impact it has on your self-esteem and sense of confidence. They say that when you smile, the whole world smiles with you. However, dental issues can kill your confidence and cause you to hide your smile.

If you’ve had any issues with your teeth in the past, either through tooth decay, an accident, gum disease, or because of the way that they’ve developed, this can have a profoundly negative effect on your confidence.

This is where cosmetic dentistry procedures come in handy.

In this article, we’ll talk you through some of the cosmetic dentistry procedures available at Broadway Cosmetic Dentists.

What Are Cosmetic Dental Procedures?

Before we look at the specific procedures themselves, we should first discuss the cosmetic dentistry meaning.

Cosmetic dentistry is there to help to get you the smile makeover that you need. If you have broken or crooked teeth, or you have stains or discoloration, then cosmetic dentistry will be able to help you.

There are several types of cosmetic dentistry procedures that will be available to you. Having your teeth examined by your dentist is the first step in deciding which option is the most suitable for you.

Let’s explore some of the many available options.

What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers let you redesign and reshape your whole mouth. A dental veneer is a small thin ceramic or porcelain shell that covers the fronts of your teeth. They can have a dramatic effect on the way that your teeth look and can be used to fix a number of different problems.

Dental veneers are useful for repairing issues such as cracks, stains, spaces, and misaligned teeth.

As long as your tooth structure remains intact, a dental veneer can be used to restore any damaged tooth.

So, how does the procedure for dental veneers work?

When a patient that requires veneers visits the practice, we take an impression of their teeth. This impression will be used as a basis for creating veneers for you in the lab. It usually takes around a week to create your veneers.

Before placing the veneers, the dentist will first need to prepare your tooth. They will do this by first removing some of your enamel. This will help ensure that the veneer can lay down flat and line up with your gums.

Once your teeth are ready, a temporary veneer can be applied using removable glue. While you have this temporary veneer in place, you will need to take care that you only brush your teeth lightly and that you avoid foods that could knock the veneer out of position.

Once the permanent veneers have been made, you’ll need to come in for another appointment. The temporary veneers will be removed, and the permanent veneers can be fitted.

What Is Cosmetic Dental Bonding?

Cosmetic dental bonding is a procedure that is used to repair damaged or discolored teeth. The procedure involves a composite resin getting applied to the tooth that needs repair.

Once applied, the resin is then shaped and sculpted. This is carried out using an adhesive gel. Once complete, LED lights are used to harden the resin.

Once set, the resin can be polished. By polishing the resin, you’ll end up with a sparkling smile.

What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a procedure that is popular with many people of different ages. If your teeth are discolored and they’ve lost their natural sparkle, then you may want to opt for teeth whitening.

There are a number of different teeth whitening procedures available. There are many at-home procedures and there are in-office procedures.

It is always recommended that for the best results, you will get more consistent results using our in-office treatment.

What Are Dental Implants?

Broken or missing teeth can be enough to make you lose confidence in the way that your smile looks. Not only that but if you have missing teeth then it can make it more difficult to chew. You may also be more prone to developing infections in your teeth and gums.

One of the best solutions to these dental issues is to have dental implants fitted. The way that dental implants work is to have a titanium screw positioned into your jawbone. This screw holds a specially made dental crown in position above your gums.

There are two types of dental implants. The first type that you should know about is the endosteal implant. This involves having a titanium screw positioned into the jaw.

There may be occasions where this is not an option. There may not be enough bone density in the jaw. In this case, your jaw will not be able to withstand the pressure of having this type of dental implant fitted.

Where you are unable to have this type of dental implant fitted, you may be able to have subperiosteal implants fitted instead.

This type of implant is fitted above the jaw. While it is the less effective option of the two dental implants, it is better than having to wear dentures.
