Dental Implants

Replacing your missing teeth will greatly improve your smile. Dental implants are the latest advance in dentistry for replacing missing teeth. Implants are firmly attached to your jaw bone, allowing you to eat and smile with confidence. Implants work great whether you need a single tooth replaced or several. You can even replace dentures with implants.

What Are Dental Implants?

The actual implant is a small, titanium post that we attach directly to your jaw bone. An artificial tooth, called a “crown,” is permanently fixed to the implant, giving you a tooth that is just as firmly fixed in your mouth as your natural teeth. 

  • What Is the Procedure for Dental Implants?

    The first step is to determine if you’re a good candidate to receive dental implants. Most people in good health are excellent candidates for the procedure. If you’ve experienced excessive bone loss in your jaw, however, you may need a bone graft before the implant procedure is done. 


    To place the titanium post (the “implant”), we create a small hole in your jaw bone. The implant is set there; then we let the bone heal. During the healing process, your bone will actually grow around the implant, fusing to it and holding it firmly in place. Because bone grows and heals slowly, it will take several weeks to a few months before the implant is completely anchored and ready to receive the crown. 


    Once your jaw bone has fully healed and fused around the implant, a metal piece called an “abutment” is attached to the implant. The artificial tooth, called a “crown,” is then attached firmly to this metal piece. You now have a permanently attached new tooth.

  • Are Dental Implants Right For Me?

    If you’re in good health, you’re an excellent candidate to receive dental implants. Missing teeth cause loss of bone in your jaw, so if you’ve experienced excessive bone loss, you may need to receive a bone graft before we can start the implant procedure. If you have any health issues which could interfere with healing, these may need to be addressed before you can get dental implants.
